11 Tips to Help Teens Have Beautiful, Healthy Skin
Cleanse your skin in the morning and at night. You especially want to do this if you have acne prone skin. This is a great habit for young adults to get into now.
Use a cleanser with Tea Tree or Salicylic Acid. This is very helpful in getting rid of acne in young adults and beneficial for those who do not have an acne problem as well.
Change your pillow case at least every 1-2 days. During the night dirt and oils accumulate in the pillowcase and harbor unwanted bacteria that can cause acne.
DON’T pick at your skin. This can make matters worse and lead to scarring.
Wipe down your cell phone or anything that comes in contact with your skin that can cause breakouts. Think about all the places your cell phone has been?
Don’t use the community hand towel to dry your face. Towels are a germ fest. Sharing your face towel/hand towel with your brother or sister is just asking for more bacteria to come in contact with your skin.
Choose the right product for your skin type. What your friend is using and raving about may not be the right product for your skin. Use products that get you results.
Drink plenty of water. It's extremely important to keep your skin hydrated. Stay away from artificially sweetened drinks. They are not only bad for your health but bad for your skin as well.
Exfoliate at least once a week. Teens have beautiful skin that renews itself must faster than adults do, but you still want to exfoliate to help remove that layer of dead skin.
Use a face mask at least once or twice a month. If you have acne prone skin, a charcoal or Zinc and Sulphur mask will work great for you. Just be sure not to apply a mask too often as it will then dry out your skin.
Lastly, and most important, don’t forget to apply sunscreen. You should use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. By doing this you can help avoid the sun's damage that can lead to aging skin. To keep that youthful glow throughout your adult life, you want to protect your skin now so you don’t regret it later.
